Further Confusion 2015 In Brief, Plus Cupcakes

So, Further Confusion happened. A month later, I finally get around to blogging it.

I hooked up with dracosphynx at his place, then we went off to acquire lunch before the con. We went to a tiny little Japanese restaurant... in a great big Japanese supermarket that occupied an entire block and included a bakery, a tea shop, a bookstore, a ramen store... It was basically Japantown writ small.



The tonkatsu bento box was delicious and offered a satisfactory ratio of vegetables! dracosphynx had a chicken cutlet SWIMMING in a sea of curry with a beach of rice.

Then the con! I met Felorin in line, we had a nice chat. Sounds like Furcadia is doing well. Once I got done with the longish registration line (note to self, check for the electronic registration form next time) Dracosphynx and I did the usual cruise about the art show and dealer's room. It was a pleasant outing.



There were quite a few good suits running around, including a Victorian Mangle (from Five Nights at Freddy's) but these were the two of which I got a picture. Gotta love that African wild dog painted look.

While there, I was instructed in no uncertain terms that I was to hang out with wordslinger and friends for dinner. I snoozed off in the main area in one of the makeshift couches they had set up, then we met up and walked down to an interesting little place called the 'Sonoma Chicken Coop' -- sit-down restaurant but counter-style service where you place your order at the counter, go find a seat, wait until the pager they give you goes off, then collect your order. Plentiful food, reasonably tasty. I had a tasty burger with, I think, bleu cheese on it!

After that I was pretty tired out, so homeward I went!

Con loot was mostly books-- a 'The Furry Future' anthology featuring a story by chipotle and another book which I persauded him to sign, plus a postcard of some amazing movie-quality fursuits posed at a hotel bar.

Decent day outing, thanks to all I met there who made it a nice social time out. -_-

Wow. I'm impressed by the quality of a lot of the costumes these days. Those remind me of that old Akoma campaign. :) (I probably should find all those ink illustrations I made for the setting, scan, and post them on DeviantArt, now that I think of it.)

I like how the fursuit heads are more proportionate to the bodies, rather than toonily oversized. :)

I hadn't caught that on the first pass, but it's an excellent point.

I'd love to see how they're made, as the method I've used (foam carving) is only easily applied to the oversized type.

When I'm financially secure again, I am totally making another trip, and joining alinsa in hunting down you and dracosphynx for a lunch trip.
