Catching up: San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival
This happened a few weeks ago! It is reasonably well documented here in ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
dracosphynx's journal, but I took a few pictures, so...
These are the ground beef takoyakis we had! Normally takoyakis are made with octopus, which is not a favored ingredient of mine (I shun all seafood that is not both a normal type of fish and decently cooked) but since I keep seeing them mentioned in manga, I was curious what the deal was with them. I think they should nominally be cooked a bit more to turn the batter golden brown, but they were pretty decent.
That said, it's a very good thing that we got our food early, the lines were incredi-long just a couple hours later.
I was quite taken with the Japanese paper doll exhibit. Here's a cat doing what cats do......
And following are the dolls that replicate the grand parade. Sadly we missed the parade, I wasn't feeling up to making the trip solo the following weekend, but the paper dolls are amazing!
Asdracosphynx notes, we visited Chocolate Covered, a purveyor of just about every kind of chocolate bar to be found. I picked up both a bar of 100% cacao, the Domori Criollo, and a bar of Bacon Chocolate. Yes, it is a thing. I think the proportion of bacon to chocolate needs to be higher, though!
The proprietor showed his appreciation for our custom by giving us each a free caramel. They looked almost too pretty to eat!
It was a pretty fun Saturday outing. ^_^
