[livejournal.com profile] dracosphynx got me out of the house today to the Dickens Fair, a Victorian reenactor's dream exhibition, a London-themed sort of fair. It was a pretty fun outing; though we didn't buy anything, there were a few tempting items, and more importantly, pictures taken!

Dracosphynx paid the most attention to this booth, I believe. Well, he did have a character named 'Bookwyrm' once.

This cutey was hiding behind the Christmas tree. It's a cloth Christmas ornament.

These were some very nice artistic masks... But at $160 for one, I decided to skip acquiring one for myself.

It's a cane with a revolver handle! This might prove amusing to [livejournal.com profile] kagetsume and [livejournal.com profile] jordangreywolf... as Kagetsume's character actually has a revolver cane in the game we're playing in.

Dracosphynx in a greatcoat! He'll have to post the pics of me in a greatcoat and then in an Inverness cloak. The greatcoat was awfully big on me but Dracosphynx has wider shoulders so it fit all right on him. Still, it was too warm for our weather, so I decided against getting it. I might try checking out dusters at some point as I'm interested in nice jackets as a replacement for my aging apple jacket.

We broke for lunch at this bakery which offered a variety of meat pies... This one is chicken pie. It was actually very tasty with a tender, yet flakey buttery crust surrounding the usual chicken pot pie filling. That's strawberry lemonade on the side.

There's nothing like looking in the window of a clothings store and noticing the model moving... This is a live person in the window of the Dark Garden booth. She looked a lot like [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar's player except for the wearing Oriental-style face paint bit. ^_^

This is a different store-- a booth featuring large numbers of exquisite feathery hair ornaments. As I commented to Dracosphynx, girls do get to wear the neatest things. I would have to be very, very bishy to pull off a feather-in-hair look.

See if you can guess which of these "magical" talismans Dracosphynx wanted me to get...

In all, we spent some three hours or so browsing around the shops. Not much time looking at the stage shows or playing the fair games, but what little I saw of the songs weren't all that amazing, so no big deal! Examining the merchandise was a lot of fun. If I weren't such a tightwad, I might have walked off with a pirate hat and cloak. :)

That sounds soooo awesome. I wish stuff like that would come around here! We only get renfests, and while they're fun I've been to so many already and there's rarely anything new. :)

There's a pretty big collection of costumers around the Bay Area, so I imagine they welcomed an event where they get to bring all their Victorian costumes. We saw a lot of Victorian outfits of various types.

Now, we must determine a way to increase Tufty's bishiness... or probably byshi-ness in order to pull off the feather in the hair look!

The Revolver Cane is both classy and seems somehow likely to get you mugged. :)
