tuftears: Sleepy Lynx (Sleepy)

So, the first pieces of furniture I've ordered have arrived...

Lynx's Shiny New Bed

You can't see it, but the bedframe is no ordinary bedframe: it has drawers! Two on each side. They are roomy, plenty big enough to hold sheets, comforters, etc. That way in the summertime, I can take the comforter off and stow it.

The comforter is the Croscill Galleria set. It's expensive, but I wanted something to function as the cornerstone of my 'hey, Tuftears has good taste' furnishing-- it will impress the lynxybabes. :)

I will be getting those Whelan Chanur cover prints I have framed nicely and put above the bed! But where to go for framing...

I am not sure what to put in the other side of the bedroom yet. There is a large closet adjacent to the bathroom that is presumably intended for my clothes, or I could get the dresser that goes with this headboard/nightstand set-- they are still trying to sell me on the idea of getting it. That and a small rolltop desk for a laptop could look nice...

Of course the real question comes in whether I'm housekeeper enough to keep the house clean, once I get everything. I suspect the answer will be 'no'. };)

Perhaps there's an App for that?

Oh, nice! I am loving all the windows and light, and that is a great-looking bed.

Thanks! ^_^

Coincidentally, the source of the lights is also a potential problem for the living room, where I intend to have a home entertainment center... Namely, there are 'suntunnels' that basically pipe light from above into the room below. They cannot easily be turned off, so they would cast light on the room even when you'd want it darkened.

This will be an interesting li'l engineering problem to fix.

Servo-controlled blinds?

From: [identity profile] tuftears.livejournal.com
Sure, but a site that has them ready to install would be handy, as opposed to having to kitbash something. :)

Beds with drawers and shelves are excellent. Very good taste!

Not sure what I'll do with the drawers, but the shelves I figure will be good places to put the books I just read before going to sleep. ^_^ I should get a lamp for it too.

I know some things that can be kept in drawers. *waggles eyebrows*

*tyckles the naughty Archangel* };)

So, I'm still not sure what to use to fill in the other side - it's basically a 7' section of wall between the door and the patio door. Maybe a dresser and rollup desk. Or a bookcase. Or a display case for my lynxies.

*rolls over on back and shows claws; no tickles!*

Bookcase or book-case/display case if you can find one, I'd suggest. You can never have too much shelf-space!

Aw, sharp widdle claws. ^_^

I figure science fiction 'n fantasy will go in the library (front room), manga and comics into the office (bedroom next to the master bedroom), so a display case there could fit! Except that to show off my lynxy collection, I would have to invite people into the master bedroom.

Sounds like a bad pickup line, doesn't it?

*chortles* Certainly a fluffy pickup line, anyway! I suppose you'd have to decide how often you'd want to show off the lynxyllection to people where it wasn't a potential pickup line! O;D

Yea, I'm thinking of some curio cabinets out in the living and dining room area... I don't have a definite idea for the TV-end of the living room wall, either. Definitely needs some media storage shelves but there SHOULD be room for a curio cabinet.

So... much... furniture... needed...

Furniture will accumulate! Hit some yard sales... >_>

Estate sales feel like I'm robbing corpses. -_- And yard sales are unlikely to be selling the tasteful, classy furniture I'm seeking!

Well, temp furniture...

Estate sales aren't robbing, probably; it's being kind and freeing up bag space from the heirs, who are going, "Oh please please please let this go to someone who really wants it and will love it so I don't have to clean my basement."

As to where to go for picture framing, craft stores tend to be able to do that, and there might even be a store that does nothing but that.

I know that my local Michael's and A.C. Moore both are currently discounting framing, but I have no idea what exists on the other side of the country.

We have Michael's around here, and Aaron Brothers... I'll have to check 'em out!

FWIW University Art in San Jose did a great job of framing for us.

Love the new bed and linens. Very classy!

Thanks! ^_^ What sorts of frames did you get? I'm wanting fancy wooden frames for my wall, I think.

Date: 2011-10-22 04:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sassinak.livejournal.com
Ours are relatively simple frames, but I think they do fancier ones. On the downside, they don't seem to put out coupons for 50% off the way Michaels and Aaron Brothers do.

Date: 2011-10-23 03:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tuftears.livejournal.com
Hmm. On the upside, that means I don't have to look for coupons if I decide I want framing from them. -_-

Bedframes with storage are grand things indeed. Me, I'm getting by with those under-a-bed rubbermaids and that cheap metal frame on wheels that was $9.99. You know the one. :)

From: [identity profile] tuftears.livejournal.com
I do indeed! I have such a metal frame for my current bed, so this is a huge upgrade. Under-the-bed storage bins would have been a good idea but I didn't think of it.
