Seriously, yeah, I wasn't thinking about cuddling, I was thinking about 'me and two friends watching movies'. In that situation, cupholders give each person a personal space of his or her own.
The beanbag actually came up more with the issue of 'what if I have more than two friends who want to watch something'... I needed auxiliary seating. The fact that it would permit two good friends to sit together is a bonus. Also, it would let girl friends (as compared to girlfriends) decide the level of physical contact they want to allow. Just getting to know each other = sit on the regular sofa without forced snuggliness.
I was first introduced to the concept of 'home theater' by boingdragon who has a nice little setup! Three recliners, each with cup holders. If I'd never met Boingy, my living room would probably just have a boring regular sofa and coffee table.
The geek version of the coffee table will of course be in the gaming room... I need to decide if I want a coffee table or regular table there.
Regular tables mean you can have all-day gaming with a break for putting away the character sheets and setting down the pot-luck stuff. Coffee table means you can have people sitting on the floor or on a sofa.
I've done it both ways -- the coffee table feels more informal and I kinda like it better, but if you have anyone who doesn't do well with the leaning forward/sitting on floor stuff, you'd want a Real Table.
Heeheehee. They're full of books I'm going to get rid of. Either duplicates (consolidating my books along with my brothers) or "meh, never going to reread this".

Also, that rug looks nice in there!
