My shirt size is 14"/32-33...
My jean size is 32 waist, 30 legs...
My jacket size is S...
And my shoe size is indeed as I had believed, 9.

That last deserves further clarification. I had tried on some size 9 boots up in San Francisco, but discovered an appalling amount of toe clearance room. My toes were swimming. I opted to try 7.5 boots, and at first glance they appeared to fit, but after a bit they were pretty painful, despite my trying some sole inserts.

After trying some similar boots on in other stores today, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is the zippers. See, these are 'fashion boots'. They have zippers on the inside, so that there aren't unsightly shoelaces in front. But, zippers do abso-zero-lutely nothing to contract the leather of the boots around the ankle, where shoelaces or velcro clasps would allow you to adjust the fit of shoes appropriately.

I still need to return the boots; I didn't get a chance to go to San Francisco after taking my car in for maintenance as I had planned, because maintenance ran overtime, requiring some additional hours to take care of brake and battery replacement.

So, instead they lent me a courtesy vehicle and I headed down to Lowe's to pick up some oven lightbulbs and to a local mall to poke around at shops. I picked up a clearance jacket from Men's Wearhouse that has pockets and then some and a really clever hidden hood design, some really nice jeans from Sear's, which fit better than the ones I got last week and don't have that extra mile or so of leg that winds up scraping the ground and getting muddy, and a kitchen rug from Lowe's.

No, I don't plan to wear that last item. That goes on the hardwood floor in front of the kitchen to protect it from splashes.

Pfft. They'd never do that, since I am a cat and therefore picky about what I wear. };)

I disbelieve the 32" waist, though. I can't believe you are bigger than I am in the waist.

I'm 34/28 for jeans. As a result, I have to hem every pair of pants I buy, as nowhere I shop stocks this as a store-supplied size.

As near as I can tell from my proportions, nature had originally planned for me to be my father's height, but left for the weekend early.

Yeah, boots are a whole other animal. I picked up a pair of cowboy boots last summer (don't ask. It was a very, uh, unique circumstance involving the coordinated efforts of my ladyfriend and my mother. I was doomed from the outset), and it was really weird wearing them for exactly the reason you say. But after wearing them for some while they kind of conform to your foot. The flexing of the leather at the ankle makes it fit a little more closely. (If that makes any sense) But until then they kind of flopped around annoyingly.

Of course, this is only valid if they fit your foot...

I tend to favor lots of pockets too, They're just so useful for carrying stuff! Though the winter it's not such a problem because the jackets I wear tend to have lots of roomy pockets (my current favorite is like this: http://tinyurl.com/caemwfm, but I think it might be tire to retire it to camping duty. It's getting a little disreputable looking) but come summer it's much different. Where do I put my pen? Where do I put my phone? These are questions that must be answered! I carry a satchel for that sort of thing. Also good for books. I'm given to understand that they can be pretty chic.
