The other while,
dracosphynx had a yen to hit up the San Francisco Zoo, so I tagged along, with the customary bribe of a donut for getting up and being ready to roll that early. ;) It's been a while so I'm going to be fuzzy about the animals we saw.

The first exhibit we visited was that of the red pandas. There were supposedly two of them, but we only saw one. That said, he certainly put out enough cuteness for ten! He was ambling all over, at one point even brushing up against the front window of the exhibit.

After that we visited the bug exhibit. This is... a very fuzzy bug. Unfortunately I'm blanking on the species.

Think that looks like an ordinary hollow log with small critters hiding inside? Nope! These are White-Eyed Assassin Bugs. The white eyes are spots on their carapaces. Did I mention they inject a paralyzing venom and suck the blood of their victims?
After that, Fluffyshy needed some warm fuzzies and we went back to look at the red panda(s) again, just in time for the zoo guide to give a presentation.

This is one of the many peacocks that were roaming the grounds freely. The SF Zoo is full of vegetable life as well as animal.

Giant anteater! So big!
The cats were, sadly, too shy for me to snap any pics. We ambled around most of the zoo, then hit up Japantown for a stroll by their bookstore before concluding with a trip to Chocolate-Covered, where I saw this interesting item:

That's duck fat caramel. ... I do admit wondering what it tastes like. Above it are some cats' tongues. These aren't made with real cat tongues, fortuituously. They're just small chocolate wafers in vaguely ovoid shapes.

I wound up with this bar of 'cinnamon sugar bacon chocolate'... and that's the book I picked up from Japantown-- it's a book of Western art, with cats replacing every subject. I liked the Mewna Lisa. ^_^
How's the bacon chocolate, you ask? Not bad, a little better than the other bar I tried back when. Still needs more bacon though!
