NaNoWriMo update: failure!

I got about 8.5k words done on the proposed Genies: Rocking the Cradle story.

I kind of bogged down though... The real world is too depressing for writing about a bunch of psychopaths. I'm trying to think of a replacement writing project, something that will be just more silly fun.

What do you guys think of the idea of a Starfleet Cooking Academy?

Starfleet Cooking Academy might be fun. :D I think there were replicators on Voyager but I also remember Neelix cooking sometimes...

The Enterprise in the "Enterprise" series had its own chef. And actual food on shelves in its cafeteria, which functioned something like an automat. :) It was very retro.

The Voyager conceit was that replication took incremental power from the engines/power plant/dilithium, so they were trying to cut down on replicator-food in order to preserve power for the Getting Home part. Thus, Neelix started cooking. (But everyone had energy credits allotted so they could get some replicated stuff, because crew morale would be so sad otherwise.)

This also, IIRC, spawned the alleged necessity to go find nebulae now and then that had raw materials so they didn't have to do as much work to replicate food. There's coffee in that there nebula!
