Status Report for December, 2025
Jan. 1st, 2026 02:04 pmHappy Mew Purr! Again my resolution is, "it is not I who should strive to do better, it is the year!"
Finished first edit pass on the Rose's Crime Spree in Nova Paree, a science fiction heist-a-riffic novel. As part of this, I wrote 8541 words, replacing an old chapter that was way too repetitive for its own good along with other changes. I'm going to need a first reader for this now...
Started working on turning the Timecrossed Engineer: Back to School into an actual ebook. Determined that Google Docs will do all right for turning a document into an epub, but I need to "make a copy" of a doc without comments in it in order to get rid of some strange formatting issues. I spent four days doing a reread, fixed some embarrassing typos and tightened things up a bit. It is very close to the point where I intend to push it out the door.
Put more work into outlines for The Rose and the Grand Cagliari Scheme (sequel to the Rose's Crime Spree) and Shakedown Cruise (sequel to Timecrossed Engineer: Back to School) but I am not too sure about starting on sequels before I've even put out the books themselves.
Started concept sketches for the cover for the Rose's Crime Spree. As part of this, I finally got around to putting together the Stickybones posable figure I got a long time ago (over a decade!)... It helps a lot for working out dramatic poses for the characters that a typical manikin just won't do.
Decided to do a prototype/prequel story for Alien Tastes. Worked on an outline, then started putting down words. I'm at 3477 words now, give or take.
Housing opened up in World of Warcraft. No charter neighborhoods yet, so we are just filling out the guild neighborhood at this time, and our friends in other guilds are either making chars in our guild or using their own guild neighborhood. I'm not actually that impressed with housing but I'll try and make a go of building a library/cafe of some sort.
Other than an achievements run next week, we are off raiding until the new expansion hits in March.
Continued running Starforged. Slowly but surely, my players are getting ready to head into a whole new sector of space.
Still playing Rogue Trader. I picked up a couple interesting-looking games like Inspector Waffles (the prequel is hilarious looking in that they used EVEN MORE RETRO graphics/gameplay than the original game), The Invincible, and Spiderman Remastered but those will have to wait for me to finish this heckin' chonker of an RPG.
So what's up for January 2026? Well, I want to actually publish Timecrossed Engineer, even if it's only self-publishing for ego's sake, and I need to get the Rose's Crime Spree into the hands of first readers or an editor. I also intend to finish up a short story for Alien Tastes as a prototype to see if it's enjoyable or nah.
Beyond that... Survive, I guess? I have vague notions of home improvements but honestly I'm not terribly motivated since I very rarely go out. Weather usually gets nasty around this time of year but solar power battery backup has done a good job of masking the short blackouts that often happen when weather takes down a line or two.
Hope all of you out there are doing well!
