Just finished this book by

haikujaguar - a lovely story of an alien world that I recommend to more mature readers. It's an alien philosophy that gives us an outside perspective on the roles to which we've become accustomed.

Born to a harsh world, we Jokka have evolved three sexes to survive: neuter, male and female. Twice in our lives we may change from one to another, a change we accept with grace... or resignation. It was our way.

...until one female defied all tradition: Dlane Ashoi-anadi, revolutionary, intentionally childless, runaway.

It's set in a desert sort of setting, with Jokka dwelling in scattered villages, connected by traveling caravans. I can't help but think it would be fun to make a computer RPG set there - not a typical 'defend the land from the evil overlord' sort of game, but trading, building up one's House into a success story.
