You remember the applesauce yogurt bread I failed with a few weeks ago, right?

I had the bright idea of trying to crumble it up and make a pot pie topping with it, so I dutifully made the filling-- chicken stew in a crockpot, basically, but then I realized the failed applesauce bread was too moist to make a reasonable topping. On top of that, there was, I suspected, mold growing on the bottom of the pie crust I'd been planning to use, so I threw that out... and improvised a biscuit-style pot pie crust. Instead, I used half the (small) loaf of bread as filler to thicken the filling.

Chicken pot pie!

The picture doesn't show it but I over-burned the crust a bit. I should have given it 30 minutes at 350, not 45.

A slice of chicken pot pie...

So how was it? Honestly, weird. The yogurt and cinnamon flavors came out pretty strong in the filling. The biscuit crust was nice, but in the future, I should just use regular bread in the stew if I'm using it as a filler.

I still had a jar of 'chicken pot pie' filling left, so today I added kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chicken-apple sausage, and a lot of chili powder and made it into chili. It works! Tomorrow, to finish off the applesauce bread, I'll try making it into french toast. We'll have to see how that goes!

Loco Moco

I didn't cook this! But I figured some people might be curious what "Loco Moco" looks like, based on my having mentioned it in attempting to make a healthy version. This is the original cholesterol-laden version: two hamburger patties on brown rice (normally white rice, but I asked for the brown rice), drizzled in gravy, with two fried eggs on top. Yum! ^_^

The crushed red peppers are the same as you'd get from a pizza place in those little packets.

You can dice red bell peppers and add them instead!

EEK, the HOT red peppers! *flees*

Diced red bells, on the other hand, might add quite a nice tang. Hmmmmm.
