I had no idea you could cook a cake with a microwave.

It reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] haikujaguar's link to single-serving pie in a jar... But it is even more insidiously convenient since you can make one serving at a time! That said, I'd probably use a ramekin and bake them for that yummy browning effect.

*nods* Yep! Although cake baked in the microwave sometimes gets a weird gummy consistency.

Also: You can use a toaster oven to bake small one-serving cakes as well! Toaster Ovens are essentially Adult Easy-Bake Ovens. :D

I used to rely on a toaster oven all the time, but my current oven is really nice with a digital display and all, I don't feel bad about using it to heat up a single serving of something. I don't think there's any real saving of electricity over a toaster oven, and being able to know the oven is at the temperature I want is nice!

That's another reason I'd be concerned over microwaving baked goods; microwaves aren't known for cooking things completely!

Ended up getting one of these. Havnt' used it yet but thinking it would be worthwhile for single serving pot-pies and such. I'm not sure it could be used for cakes, but I may give it a try.

You may end up with cake that's crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle, judging from the looks! But you could microwave it to finish it off. It's basically a waffle iron, I think.

It certainly looks like a waffle iron. Of course the thought of a cake that's gooey on the inside makes me wonder about warm chocolate filling... Thouhg I'm not sure how you'd engineer that with this appliance.

Chocolate cake dough in first to halfway point, push a chocolate ganache ball in, cover with a thin layer of remaining dough? I dunno, I've never made that. };)
