tuftears: Lynx in Chef's Hat (Cooking)

Some random things I've either eaten, drank, or cooked lately...

I didn't eat or drink this, but it was responsible for the pearl tea I tried from Tea Era recently! This machine basically picked up and agitated the tea, presumably to make sure the flavors were mixed properly. I'm not sure if it also handled inserting the pearls. A separate machine was used to seal a lid on top.

And this is the resulting drink. I liked the tea, I didn't like the pearls. They're too hard, so I run into the same problem I have with swallowing pills. If I wind up there again, I'll have to make sure to request no pearls.

This one I did make. I tried making a really thin pancake and wrapping up some kale and ham with it. It worked out okay, but the pancake is still a bit too thick to sell the 'crepe' idea.

Chicken stew and biscuits! The biscuits didn't fluff out as much as I had wanted, but were still okay when I cut them in half and buttered them. I will have to try something different for the remainder of the biscuits, which I put in the freezer uncooked so I could freshly bake them later.

These are ground turkey meatballs, covered in store-bought Thai peanut sauce, with some simply sautee'd sugar snap peas. It turned out okay, but the Thai peanut sauce isn't anywhere nearly as flavorful as I would have wanted. I expected spicy, this was very mild.

How did you do the chicken stew? Was there pre-searing and so forth involved, or is this something I could adapt for cooking lazycat style? =^.^=

Nothing much to say about it, chop up the veggies (carrots and zucchini), stick them in with plenty of garlic with about 4 cups (one package) of chicken stock and half a cup of pearled barley. Get that started in the crockpot with an 8-hour time at 'low'.

Then you cut up the chicken and put it in a bowl mixed with poultry seasoning of your choice and put that in the fridge. When it's 2 hours to being done, then dump the chicken in with maybe a cup of flour and stir, then put the lid back on and let it cook for the rest of the time. That ensures the chicken is cooked, but not overcooked. Add whatever seasoning you feel are needed near the end.

Ok, it's the "add the chicken at t=-2h" part that I was missing. The last time I tried making chicken stew, I put it in for the full duration and ended up with something that tasted vaguely like gummy starch :).

Oh well, if you stew chicken for the full 8 hours, it basically dissolves into shreds.

Weird that the tapioca in your pearl tea was so hard. O_o I always chew the boba before I eat them. It's a good thing there aren't any bubble tea places near me because I am powerless to resist them given the opportunity. c_c
