Mew Car!

After my air conditioning broke down, and my old car's air conditioning had also broken down, I determined I really needed... well, a new air conditioner, yes. But also, a new car. My 2004 Honda Accord was just about 14 years old after all!

So I went shopping.



I decided on this BMW i3. It's electric with a range extender, so it'll go about 100 miles on a full battery and 60 more with the gasoline engine adding power. Plenty enough to get to San Purrancysco and back! And it's super-adorable. ^_^



Here's the BeMew parked at work! I still need to get my purrsonalized license plate for it, I haven't gotten them from the DMV yet. I have loaded it up with most of my favorite mewsyc though!

That is a super cute car! How long does it take the battery to charge up?

Hey now, my Camry is a 2004, and it's still going strong. :D I can't see myself getting a new car any time soon. Knock on wood!

It's not particularly speedy at charging, but overnight brings it up up to full from 50% (and I start it charging at 9 PM for reduced cost). You can get a 'fast' charger but I don't feel the need to pay a premium for that since I don't drive a lot.

Camries are a pretty reliable bunch of cars. For my part, I really wanted to upgrade rather than pay increasingly more than the car was worth to keep it going. (its trade-in value was like $2k or so)

Oh my god that car is SO CUTE! I don't think I've seen this one around which is weird since beemers and electrics are both popular around here.

My bro's Tesla will go 200+ miles, but my effective leash range is about 30 miles. :)

I think 'olts -- (V/B)olts -- have a good range. Spouse was gonna get one, but issues with the bump-in on the driver's side gave him leg cramps.

But if all you need is about 30 miles, hey! O:>

Somebody'll be getting a super good deal on your old Accord, even if they have to replace the A/C. Hondas and Toyotas are like Energizer bunnies even at that age. The Civic my parents gave me is only now starting to break down at 18 (19 if you count the time it was actually built)...and if I had the money to rebuild the transmission and replace the struts, I'd probably have it for like 10 more years. Alas, I don't, so when it goes, I will be a carless, pathetic bus-dependent wolverbabe! Waaah! OH woe is me! I'll be saving money tho!

Yeah, it has proven pretty reliable, but I really am enjoying the mew car. };)

Its actually excellent, but I've had my own wheels since '87, and it might just make me stircrazy not to be able to get to all the groceries I go to at least. Also the small problem of needing to be at the hotel where I get the DAV van by 6 am whenever I need to go to the doctor. Busses don't start running until 7 am.

Might be able to call the special bus for disabled people...which...kinda embarrassing really. yeah, I may actually be disabled, but I don't outwardly look like it and I don't like looking like it. :/ I'll get over it eventually.
